family support month

Tarboro, NC – This February, the Edgecombe County Public Schools (ECPS) Family Resource Center is proud to join communities across North Carolina in recognizing Family Support Awareness Month (FSAM). In celebration, the ECPS Family Resource Center will launch the Circle of Parents and host a Family Resource Fair to highlight the importance of strong family support systems in promoting positive childhoods.

Circle of Parents will begin Tuesday, February 18th at the ECPS Family Resource Center in Tarboro and Thursday, February 27th at the Teacher Resource Center in Rocky Mount. This program is designed for parents of children ages 4 to 11 and provides a safe, supportive environment to connect, share experiences, and offer encouragement. Circle of Parents will run biweekly at each location, offering ongoing support and valuable resources to strengthen parenting skills, foster healthy family relationships, and navigate the joys and challenges of raising young children. The program is open to all Edgecombe County residents.

The Family Resource Fair will take place on Saturday, March 1st, at the ECPS Family Resource Center in Tarboro. The event will feature a variety of community vendors and is open to the public.

“Families are the foundation of a thriving community, and we believe that every child deserves a safe, supportive environment,” said Saiid Murphy, ECPS Family Resource Center Coordinator. “This event is an opportunity to connect families with resources that strengthen families, ultimately creating brighter futures for North Carolina’s children.”

Family Support Awareness Month aims to raise awareness about the essential role of family support and strengthening programs, such as Family Resource Centers (FRCs) and other community organizations.
